The Department of Energy has awarded another $12.6M over four years to BioLEC, enabling us to not only continue our current work, but expand our team to widen and deepen our remit. As we transition to BioLEC-2, we will be adding teams from Northeastern University, SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory, North Carolina State University, and University of Colorado Boulder, giving us new capabilities in X-ray spectroscopy, computation and theory, and more. Details of the new teams are available on our People page.

The new funding comes as part of the DOE’s more than $400M investment in continuing or establishing 43 Energy Frontier Research Centers, focusing on university- and National Laboratory-led research into clean energy technologies and low-carbon manufacturing.
