Inorganic Photochemistry

The McCusker Group’s research focuses on the physical and photophysical properties of transition metal-based chromophores with the goal of developing an understanding of the connection between the geometric and electronic structures of metal complexes and the types of photo-induced properties they exhibit. Within BioLEC, this expertise translates into mechanistic studies of photoredox catalysis – particularly with regard to chromophores based on earth-abundant materials – through the combined use of synthesis, steady-state, and ultrafast time-resolved spectroscopies.
